The small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) market is currently at a strategic crossroads, marked by an unprecedented dynamic of technology adoption. Artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing continue to transform SME operations, offering significant opportunities to enhance efficiency and competitiveness. However, these technological advances come with major challenges, particularly in cybersecurity and regulatory compliance. In Europe, the AI Act imposes new governance obligations, while French SMEs struggle to move beyond the proof of concept (POC) stage for their AI projects. Spain, on the other hand, remains a benchmark for digitization and AI, offering valuable lessons for European SMEs.
